We’re Already Manifesting Our Dreams!
Imagine That!
Martin
Luther King, Jr. had a dream.
I have a dream. The Creative Center for Spiritual Living has a dream. We
all have dreams. And how do we create them?
We create them by using our imagination and we create them by speaking
about them and we create them by taking action toward them.
All my life I’ve always loved round things.
I don’t know why. I always just loved round buildings.
So this has always been a constant within me, not anything that I worked
towards. I couldn’t see anything in my life other than the thought that maybe
I’ll have a round house some day, a geodesic dome.
But
dreams have a way of popping up and coming to fruition.
Some of you’ve heard the story that Les and I had two wonderful,
marvelous businesses and we had a beautiful home overlooking the water in
Newport Beach. We were perfectly happy with our lives and we were doing ministry
on the side. We
had an assistantship at Golden Circle in Santa Ana in Orange County and we had
this wonderful, wonderful life. We would go out and do a lot of guest speaking
and that was really fun. One day we were up in Sedona which is that magical
place in Arizona with vortexes and we spoke at that little church and I don’t
know whether we were just so awful but right after that they decided to close.
But
when we were coming home from that trip, driving towards Phoenix, I said to Les
just out of the clear blue, what would happen if we gave up our businesses and
gave up our home and took a church, full time?
What would it be like?
Well, I mean, it was just a casual question to me but the Universe heard
it, loud and clear.
And so, a couple more opportunities to guest speak came up and we went
out to El Cajon and we went over to Lake Havasu and this kept being in the back
of our minds. What
would it be like?
And so the opportunity came for the big church in San Diego and we
thought we’ll apply there.
We’ll have this big magnificent church in San Diego.
So we applied down there, but in the meantime, we were supposed to go out
to El Centro to speak one Sunday and on that Friday in my office comes their
bulletin and it says somebody else was speaking and I thought well that’s
strange, we’ve been scheduled to do that for six weeks.
And
so I called them up and they said oh no, you’re at the end of the month and
this is the first of the month.
So we thought, well we’ve got this Sunday free, nobody expects us at
Santa Ana, we’ve heard about this little tiny place in Escondido. My sister
lived here, but we’d never been to the church.
We knew it was without a minister but nobody had ever asked us to guest
speak here so we came tripping down here one August, 3 years ago on Sunday
morning. The very first thing out of the President of the Board’s mouth was
the minister they were expecting to candidate the next week was not going to be
available. So we, naturally thought oh well, we’ll fill that spot for them,
we’ll come and speak, never knowing what the Universe had in mind.
Imagine that!
We came and we spoke, they liked us, we candidated and here we were, two
months later. We
sold
our businesses and home, and bought another home down here and we were here.
That
January, we went to a conference on “Possibilities” and one of the processes
they asked us to do was to dream the biggest dream we could possibly dream.
Way out of the box.
Something that you just absolutely could not realize that you could have
come true, that kind of imagination.
You know,
the castle in the sky.
And so, out of my mouth came this dream.
I want this magnificent round church, center, not just a church, but I
want it to be for all of the arts.
I want every kind of art you can imagine.
Every kind of dance, every kind of music, every kind of wellness creation
that you could have in one spot.
I
would love to see it open 24 hours, 7 days a week so that people that work
during the day could come in the evening and people that work during the night
could come in the day and always available for a place to come and be fed by
Spirit in whatever manner It meant and for every child 2 to 92, I’ve had to
change that because of Harvey and make it 102 cause he’s already at 95 and
still participating.
So
my dream now is from 2 to 102 for people to be able to come and experience who
they are, who they truly are in Spirit, in other words if they’ve got this
little inkling that thinks maybe they’d like to paint, they could come and
experience it.
If they have this feeling that they would love to sing more than anything
in their life, that they would love to sing and at home they’re put
down and said you can’t even carry a tune in a basket, what do you mean sing?
But they could come and they could take classes and they could learn to
let that expression of God be revealed to them. So that every single person had
a place to go to experience the wholeness of who they are.
And that’s a big, huge dream, right?
Very big, huge dream.
But it’s coming to fruition already.
We
have been visioning every Wednesday since we arrived here in this organization
in this community and we now see it.
And what is so surprising me is just yesterday I realized we’re already
doing it. It’s
not a dream any more, it’s an actuality, and its not just my dream anymore . .
. it’s our dream.
If you look at this building, it is round in scope, the center is where
we’re sitting right now.
There are classrooms and activities going on all the way around us.
Some Wednesday nights, we’ve actually had three things going on at one
time. We
had a class in here, we had a class in there and we had a class in there.
So my dream is what you, all of us, have created here in this space.
It’s not only my dream, it’s your dream and it’s happening right
here in Escondido, right here and right now. Dreams do come true.
And
so we’ve had the opportunity here in this church to experiment with the
possibility of the dream that I’ve been holding for all of us, this enormous
center with possibility for everyone in this community, everyone in North
County. Can
you imagine coming into this center with kids that are just yelling and full of
joy because they’re experiencing who they truly are and so next week we’re
going to come back here and we’re going to continue the process that Charles
started for us a few weeks ago when we wrote down what it is our dream is.
We wrote down the possibilities that each one of us wants in our center,
so we invite you back Sunday, August 31 to continue the dream, to know that
whatever it is we can imagine, we can achieve.
So we are already doing the things that we say we want to be do and have
in this Center.
Imagine that!
I
love you all. Rev. Audrey
